About 12 miles north of our Gainesville base. We work historic Main Street homes, Turkey Creek subdivision builds, and the newer construction along the west side. Many older Alachua homes have mature wood siding that needs the prep work to last.
Housing stock, landmarks, and the kinds of jobs that come up most often here.
Historic downtown Alachua has wood-frame and brick storefronts and homes, many built before 1950. Turkey Creek subdivision has 1990s and 2000s suburban single-family homes with mature live oak landscaping. Newer subdivisions on the west side trend toward modern farmhouse styling. Mix of wood, Hardie, and vinyl siding across the area.
Whole-house interior repaints for new owners, exterior refresh work on historic Main Street homes, and drywall repair after water intrusion (common in older Alachua homes).
A lot of homes near downtown Alachua are 50 or more years old. They need different prep than newer construction: more scraping on wood siding, sometimes plaster patching instead of drywall, and a careful approach on any pre-1978 surface because of lead-paint considerations. Skipping these steps is why some older homes need repainting every few years.
